  • Lyrics I Can Fly

Through the curtain I saw your light come on

I knew that time of night had come

With trembling hands I filled my glass

Ghosts of  ‘Nam were still a bitter past

You turned on your song and  then took off your shoes

I leaned over and switched off the TV news

When I wheeled my chair to get a better view

I dreamed it was me you were holding on to

The City Lights seemed to blink in time

Their reflection caused you hair to shine

When the music slowed I could see your face

The window framed your beauty and grace

You were dancing alone, tears in your eyes

If I close my eyes, I think I can fly

Seeing you dancing alone, I know I can try

If I close my eyes, then I think I can fly

As the chopper took me away from Long Tan

I was no longer a boy, couldn’t be a man

I didn’t want you to know or for you to see

This body broken, but my spirit free

The city Lights seemed to blink in time

Their reflection cause your hair to shine

When you looked outside, I saw your smile

It seemed I had nowhere else to hide

You were dancing alone, tears in your eye

If I close my eyes, I think I can fly

Seeing you dancing alone, I know I can try

If I close my eyes, I know I can fly
